We are equally bold in seeking the support and participation of people -- young and old alike -- in drawing together our resources to enable ministries and efforts that serve and love our neighbor in Jesus Christ’s name throughout the world.
Mission Advancement shares the ELCA's message of God's love with a broad and diverse audience across all media, and directs efforts for support of the ELCA’s work through major gifts, appeals and planned giving. Its work communicates consistently the distinctive identity and mission of the ELCA, empowers people to share the story of God’s redeeming love in the world, and encourages members to engage in and financially support the work of this church both in and beyond their congregations.
The five teams and functions of Mission Advancement are:
- Constituent Support
Responds to inquiries for information, resources and assistance.
- ELCA Foundation
Sustains, grows and strengthens ministries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, congregations, agencies and institutions through personal gift planning, financial education and investment management services.
- The Lutheran magazine
Nurtures awareness of Christ's presence in our lives and the world, shares stories of God's people living their faith, connects us with the global Christian community, provides an open forum for discussion and challenges us to bring God's grace and care to all.
- Marketing Communications Provides marketing, public relations and digital media in order to communicate stories of faith in action, ELCA news, open forums, and opportunities for participating in the mission of the ELCA.

Encourages and develops support for God's mission and ministry through congregations, synods and churchwide ministries.
